Sandy Wong
Registered Speech Language Pathologist
Sandy received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and a Master of Science in Educational Speech-Language Pathology and Learning Disabilities from The Education University of Hong Kong. She is registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (CHCPBC) and is a proud member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC). Sandy is also listed on the Registry of Autism Service Providers (RASP) and serves as a clinical educator, mentoring SLP practicum students to shape the next generation of professionals.
With extensive experience, Sandy specializes in working with children who have a wide range of speech, language, and social communication delays and disorders, including those using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). She provides targeted language assessments and contributes to comprehensive autism evaluations, helping families gain clarity and direction. Sandy’s evidence-based practice is informed by her extensive training, including certification as a PROMPT provider (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets), TalkTools Oral Placement Therapy Level 1, the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), Introduction of DIRFloortime®, The Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®), and the Lidcombe Program, as well as specialized courses in reading and writing, language acquisition strategies like The Shape Coding System, techniques for Childhood Apraxia of Speech such as DTTC and ReST, and executive functioning support.
Sandy believes that collaboration is key to success. Drawing from her personal experience as a parent, she partners with families to create practical, individualized therapy plans that empower children to thrive. Whether addressing articulation challenges, supporting social skills, or enhancing communication, Sandy combines her clinical expertise with a warm, empathetic style to make therapy engaging and effective.
Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, she brings a multilingual perspective to her practice, ensuring accessible and culturally responsive care.
