Zoe Beukers
Registered Speech Language Pathologist
Zoe obtained a Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of British Columbia. She is registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC -formerly known as the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of British Columbia (CSHBC). Additionally, she as an active member of Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC) while also being on the Registry of Autism Services Providers (RASP).
Before completing her master’s degree, Zoe graduated from Simon Fraser University with a BA in Health Sciences. She has gained experience with American Sign Language through courses at Vancouver Community College and has training in the Orton Gillingham literacy program. Her continuing education has expanded her knowledge on providing services to families with Hanen’s program, “More than Words” - a parent focused training to support children on the autism spectrum, to increasingly neurodiverse affirming services. In addition to her previous work experience with autistic children, Zoe has worked as a counsellor and programmer for the BC Easter Seals Society, providing an inclusive summer camp experience to children with various physical and cognitive differences.
Zoe currently provides services to paediatric and school age children, while concurrently working at a school for children that identify as Deaf and/or hard of hearing. Her interests include speech sound disorders, motor-planning disorders, fluency, developmental language disorders, alternative and augmented communication (AAC), and providing support for children with hearing differences. Zoe is adamant on providing tailored services through play-based learning while focusing on family-centred care using evidence based practices.
When she’s not working on helping families and children reach their communication goals, Zoe can be found reading outside, trying new restaurants or indulging in fashion and home decor shows.
